Passive Homes

What is Passive?
A Passive Home is built to achieve thermal comfort with minimal heating and cooling by focusing on insulation, airtight construction, efficient window and door placement, heat recovery ventilation systems, and eliminating thermal bridges.
Why Passive?
Passive Homes offer energy efficiency, lower utility bills, and year-round comfort. With superior insulation, airtight construction, and advanced ventilation, they reduce energy use and carbon footprints, leading to long-term savings. These homes improve indoor air quality, require less maintenance, and can increase property value, making them a smart, sustainable investment. Nel Constructions is a proud member of the Australian Passivhaus Association.

Our Approach To Passive
At Nel Constructions, we believe every home is unique, which is why our approach to Passive design is always adaptable. As proud members of the Australian Passive House Association, we are set up and fully capable of delivering high-performance Passive homes.
We integrate Passive elements as a standard part of our construction methodology, ensuring better longevity, reduced mould risk, improved thermal performance, and enhanced livability. Our hybrid approach balances rigorous Passive House principles with practical solutions tailored to our local climate.
Our standard construction methodology always allows us to complete a fully ventilated cavity batten system with high-performance membranes and fully taped-in windows and doors on all external walls. We have been completing this since 2020. Whether you're looking for an entire Passive home or a design that blends energy efficiency with budget-conscious choices, we adapt to your needs and lifestyle, always putting your experience first.
